These sugars are absorbed rapidly, can cause rapid rise in insulin and uptake of glucose in muscle, brain, fat, etc. This increased metabolism can result in increased heart rate. It really isn't harmful, but more slowly absorbed carbs--veggies, whole grains--are really better

See answer: Normally, high blood sugar per se doesn't usually elevate heart rate. However, the body can "over react" to a high blood sugar by releasing too much insulin, which can be followed by hypoglycemia which can raise your heart rate.
