Usually ok: While ACL surgery can cross the growth plate and cause premature closure and "stunted" growth, this complication is unusual especially if the doctor uses a soft tissue graft like hamstrings

Plate maturity.: This question needs to be directed to the surgeon that recommended the repair. The growth plate could possibly be affected, depending on the status of the plate opening and the surgical technique . The question of repairing or not repairing has more to do with how the knee might be affected later. The possibility of future meniscal tears and cartilage damage could be increased without a repair.
