A member asked:

Frail elderly male with high fever, suspect is bladder infection due to catheter. what is tx and how long will he need the catheter? prostate issue.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Antibiotics: Treatment of a urinary tract infection due to a catheter is usually antibiotics (oral or IV) and a catheter change (or removal). There is no way for me to know how long he will need the catheter. Some men with prostate issues require catheters long-term but I don't know this specific case. Best wishes!
