Yes: Most patients that sprain their ankle will have swelling, bruising and tenderness that can be painful to walk on. If the toes are unable to flex due to pain and swelling you should be examined and an xray taken to check for fractures. Try to stay off of it, wrapped and elevated with ice packs until you see your Podiatrist!

Treatment so far ???: It depends on just how you have been treating the injury of two days ago. Failure to apply ice ,elevating and resting the ankle with mild compression can prolong your recovery. Uncontrolled ankle swelling could account for your symptoms. If the RICE protocol has not been used, it is time to start, reducing the amount of ice time. You other option is to visit the local urgent care for evaluation.
