I've been through several thermometers. my temp will be 104, then to confirm, i take again. 96. then again 100. then 89. in 30 minutes. what the hell?

Get a new electronic: Urinate into a clean cup and immediately measure the temperature of the fluid. That will give you the most accurate measure of core temperature.
