Diabetes, HTN: The commonest cause of kidney disease leading to dialysis is diabetes. Hypertension is a close number two. If you have either of these, it is important to have your kidney function checked yearly at the least. Certain drugs like nsaids-(ibuprofen family) can lead to kidney disease when used frequently over a long period. There many other causes but the these 3 are the ones you can do most about.
