Less than 5 is hard: Studies have shown that a 3 years old, has had 3 or more wheezy episodes in a year, has proven allergy and has a parent with a history of asthma, then this child has a 60% chance of having asthma already. Pulmonary function tests are helpful after age 5. It is possible to do an eno test in younger kids. If your child has received more than 1 course of oral steroids in a yr, see pediatricallergist.
