Tonsillitis usually: Takes a while to decrease in size and pain. It will take more time for the tonsils, if it does happen, to go down. Some cases they don't and remain enlarged, blocking your airway and potentiating more infections in the future. Talk to your ENT specialist about options if they remain enlarged in 3 weeks.

Unresolved tonsil: I'm sorry that you still have a swollen tonsil however it is quite common after tonsillitis to continue to have swelling in the region. It may take as long as two or three months for the swelling in the enlargement to go down. It may never go down and if you have three attacks of tonsillitis in a six-month, the tonsils need to be removed. Finish your antibiotics.
