Probably gone: There's confusion about the duration of HPV; it's complex and new knowledge comes along frequently. HPV DNA may persist for life, but not necessarily. Even if DNA is there, the immune system usually controls infection to a point it doesn't reactivate or cause disease, can't be detected, and can't be passed to partners. That's probably where you are. Get vaccinated to prevent future infections.
