A member asked:

For what length of time can someone live with type 2 diabetes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

For a lifetime: Once you have dm you have it for life. It can be controlled with medicine, wt loss and even just diet. But if diet changes or weight increases then blood sugars will often increase even if previously controlled and it tends to get worse over time as the pancreas gives out and is not able to make enough insulin.
