Call your doctor: Strep throat is caused by the group A streptococcus bacteria but is very similar to viral pharyngitis. A rapid strep test is performed to determine if Streptococci are present. Antibiotics do not work for viral illnesses. The test is not 100% accurate however. If no improvement a throat culture can sort out if it is viral or you have resistant bacteria and may need a different antibiotic.

Not at all: No you have to take the full 10 days of Amoxicilin and you will see the symptoms relief pretty soon

Yes: Consider mononucleosis among other things. See a real Dr next. Urgent care is typically under standard.

Strep throat: Was the diagnosis of a strep infection confirmed by a positive throat culture? If not and symptoms of sore throat don't improve after several days, consider another throat culture and be tested for infectious mononucleosis. In the meantime gargle with warm salt water and suck on lozenges for relief of throat discomfort.
