Kinda sorta but ...: While spleen is useful in fighting infection, it's not only defense against infection. While those w/o spleen (for whatever reason) are at increase risk for certain infections, this can be mitigated by vaccinations. This is true. : The spleen is actually an important part of the immune system. Infections with certain bacteria are more difficult treat in the absence of a spleen.
