A member asked:

Do we need spleen to fight infection?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Much of the immune system's memory and other cells (lymphocyte) may reside in the spleen. People who have had to have their spleen removed are especially prone to certain types of infections and are thus considered to be immunocompromised.
