Depends: In the emergency department it depends upon what medical problem you have. If you need stitches, I would be spending the most time with you to finished closing your wound. With a cough / cold / pneumonia the nurse would spend great deal of time giving medicines, measuring vital signs, and re-evaluation of your response. Hope that helps. Have a good day.

Depends on problem: Usually the doctor is head of the team but newer practice models give nurses much more independence. It depends on the individuals involved and how comfortable they feel in delegating and accepting authority and state laws.
