Abscess: If it continues to drain then no. Was it cultured? It may be MRSA. See your doctor for guidance. You are right to try and not spread this to your patients. You may also carry the bacteria in your upper respiratory tract. All the best.

Should I take an omega 3 vitamin while I am nursing?

Yes: It's probably a good idea. We don't know, exactly, what the "rda" of omega-3 fatty acids should be for nursing moms or babies or children, but we do know that these are important especially for eye and brain development. Good natural sources of omega-3s are oily fish (sardines, mackerel) and flax seed.

Breastfeeding consul: Getting a consult with a good breastfeeding consult team and having good direct and phone contact with them. Also, some pediatricians are very good with this topic as well. Mom's should start with the pediatrician and seek of a good breastfeeding consultant team for help. Experienced friends and family can often also offer good advice and support.

Six to twelve months: The maximum benefits for breast feeding are the first six months of life. It is certainly beneficial to breast feed through the first year. I recommend weaning off the breast or bottle starting at one year of age terminating bottle or breast by two transitioning to a cup.

Hidradenitis supp.: You may have a 'cystic skin disease' called hidradenitis suppurativa. It mainly attacks the groin and armpits. Recurrent cysts are the general rule. You should get seen by a dermatologist to get a diagnosis and get the proper treatment (e.g. Oral antibiotics, injections, excisions...) hope you are better soon!

Varies: With the size and location of the abscess from a few days to 14 days and whether it was adequately drianed and whether there is an associated fistula. It definitely needs follow up if not resolved in a reasonable time.
