There is an abscess that was lanced on the knee w/ gauze packed into it, i was not able to remove it myself b/c the wound healed over. can i repoen the wound and try to pull it out or do i need to see a doctor?

You can try: soaking it to see if the gauze will come out . Don't know how long the knee has been left with the guaze packing. If skin has actually grown over it - it may be best to have your medical provider assess and remove it.
