Nail Painful: Sounds like there may be a problem with nail/fungus that is causing it to lift and be painful. You should probably see someone to trim it back or possibly have part or all removed. Rock & a hard place.: Without an exam and evaluation there is just no way of telling if the problem you are having is due to the nail, underlying nail bed or even the bone under the nail. A competent specialist should make short work of narrowing down the possibilities and working out a solution.
