Depends: Most eye surgeons instruct patients to use an eye shield or glasses after surgery during the day, and to sleep with the eye shield for 1 week to prevent inadvertent trauma. Good luck...

Depends: It depends on what anesthesia your eye md uses. If a needle is used to numb up the eye, then you will receive an eye patch to wear until the day after surgery. If you have eye drops to numb op the eye, then you might have a shield to cover the eye, but usually no eye patch. You should ask your surgeon.

Cataract surgery: Whether you wear an eye patch on the night of cataract surgery depends on the type of anesthesia your surgeon chooses to use. Those patients who receive a local anesthetic injection around the eye will typically wear an eye patch until the day after surgery. Other patients will have surgery with just eye drops that numb the eye surface. They typically will not have a patch afterward.

Cataract surgery: follow your doctors instructions for best outcome. I do not have my patients wear a patch after cataract surgery. There may be a scratch to the eye, or it may be standard procedure to wear a patch for your doctor.

No: Clear corneal cataract surgery usually allows patients to not need a patch after surgery. Sometimes eyeMDs will put a patch on for the day after surgery. A shield is used though for the 1st 24hrs & then at bedtime for 1wk to protect the eye from any rubbing. More info: eyedoc2020@blogspot.com
