Spasms: Arthritis affects the entire spine. It is a genetic predisposition. The areas of most stress or movement, are subsequently affected the most. If you have spasms, those may extend the entire length of the affected muscles--which attach from the back of the head down to the pelvis. So spasms spread irrespective of the arthritis. Try stretching the back. Curl up to relieve spasms. Then core exercises.
