A member asked:

Does degenerative changes in spine always means arthritis? or can people who ve no arthritis also ve degenerative changes in spine ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sortof: Degenerative changes are a radiographic terminology that means your spine shows "wear and tear". Like taking your used car to the mechanic and him telling you your tires show thinning tread or your engine shows wear. Can indicate arthritic change but not always indicative of source of pain so requires clinical correlation.
