It's Possible...: Do you have an entrance wound? Is it inflamed, red or swollen? Those are also signs of an infection, which is common in puncture wounds to the foot. Many patients of mine have had a retained foreign body along with a bacterial infection or abscess. You need to have it looked at for proper diagnosis and treatment plan!

Hold everything..: Foreign body punctures can lead to the body's inflammatory's response kicking in. You can play the wait and see game but there is a risk that things could get worse, much worse. Have it examined to remove all doubt. With high magnification and appropriate lighting, the odds of knowing the true extent of the injury are optimal.
