A member asked:

I'm really scared of needles. i'm getting my blood drawn in a few months for the first time. could they do something so it won't hurt?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It will hurt: You are almost an adult and you will, without help, manage far greater pains than a needle stick. The actual physical pain is tiny but the emotions around your skin being broken are complex. Cultivate trust. Think of the purpose of the test -- to maintain health. Think of your mother and others who endured pain for you. Pretend to be brave. Thank the tech. Fake being brave. Best wishes.
