Strained muscle: Usually a fracture of a bone causes extreme pain and a lot of swelling. More likely, you strained a muscle or a ligament. For soft tissue strains like these, it can take a few days or a wk to recover. If you have swelling, use an icepack for 20 min 2x/day. If no swelling, you can try a heating pad 20 min 2x/day. If any weakness, tingling or numbness, see a doctor.
