No veggies or peas: People who don't eat a lot of green vegetables cor peas an become folate (folic acid) deficient. Alcoholics can become folate (folic acid) deficient as well. So can people with malabsorption or otherwise poor nutritional states.

Folic acid essential: People who need more folate (folic acid) are more likely to be deficient unless they replace this essential vitamin. Situations where the body is working to produce more cells (pregnancy, following chemotherapy, wound healing) are all conditions that require attention to folate.
