Not enough info.: Pain is not a usual presentation with asthma though it can be if accompanying a old or exposure to toxic gases. What you describe sounds more like muscular skeletal involving the rib cage or inflammation of the lining of the rib cage. Heart could present this way. I would get a 2nd opinion from an Internet and not just a general practitioner. Exam and more info needed.
