Took bp at home with electronic machine. battery was low and died right after results of 120/101. never have a diastolic that high from low battery?

Buy a new battery!!!: If battery was low & died, ignore that reading & stop worrying about weird/strange numbers. Instead, go buy a new battery & proceed from there. No need to speculate on impact of low/dead battery. Don't forget to rest at least 5min before checking. Repeat at least twice more then average these 3 readings. Get to know your baseline at specific time of day. Then repeat at different time. Review w/doc
