Hard to know without: more information. However, chest pain in an athletic teen can be caused by costochondritis (inflammation of chest cartilage), or muscle sprains. In a young female, breast discomfort can occur due to hormonal changes and tends to get better once puberty is complete. If she has chest pain with exercise, see her pediatrician immediately to evaluate her heart and clear her for sports participation.
