Sprain vs fracture: Without bruising, a frequent sign of a broken bone, a fracture is doubtful but not proven to be absent. Consider your hand is broken at the sorest spot until an x-ray proves that it is not. X-rays now-a-days are cheap, fast and accurate. I hope the x-rays are negative.
