I have ran a high fever for 4 days, horrible soar throat along with back of tongue pain and tested negative for strep throat. what is wrong?

Possible virus: Ebstein bar virus(infectios mononuleosis) can give you a sore throat and a high fever.You need to be checked for that infection and strep or adenovirus infection incase your quick strep test is false negetive.

Pharyngitis: If negative for strep could be dealing with acute viral pharyngitis. This requires just symptomatic management with pain relievers, salt water gargle, tea with honey, lozenges. If fevers and throat pain persist get re-evaluated.
