Not contagious: Lymphedema itself is not contagious, but sometimes might be caused by an infection. Some doctors always wear gloves for all exams. I suggest you ask the doctor about what she thinks the cause is and her gloving practices.

No: It's not contageous Dr.s wear gloves to keep from spreading other diseases patient to patient.
