Short term use only: Undiluted Pedialyte is used for infants and children when they are vomiting breast milk or formula, usually in the context of a gastroenteritis, for a few feedings to maintain hydration. As soon as that is tolerated, it is advised to return to formula or breast milk. Pedialyte is not intended to be used in place of formula for growth, as it does not contain protein or fats essential for growth.
