It can be. If you: are on Prednisone(steroid) from the doctor as part of your treatment, this can cause insomnia. Also, if you are sleeping a lot during the day, you may not be as tired when you try to go to sleep at night. If you are still in the first part of your illness with a very sore throat, swollen tonsils and fever, that can affect your sleep just like any other illness can.
