Is it normal for a mononucleosis blood test to show up positive a year after initial diagnosis?

It depends on exactly what test was done. The quick Monspot® test is not likely to remain positive more than a few weeks. However, some tests for Epstein Barr Virus (EBV, the cause of infectious mononucleosis) remain positive for life. Discuss with your doctor how to interpret your test; or if still uncertain, an infectious diseases consultation probably can sort it out. Good luck.
