I got 9 stitches in my lip 2 days ago, i now appear to have a big ulcer near the stitches and the wound has a bad odour. could it be infected?

Possible: It is a possibility that you may have an infection if you have an ulceration and bad smell from the would. I would recommend to see your physician ASAP or go to the Urgent care clinic / ER. Hope this helps.
