Have you seen a Doc?: Classic presentation of pulmonary embolism is a sudden onset of pleuritic chest pain (pain with breathing/cough); & shortness of breath. Unfortunately, PE may have no obvious symptoms at presentation & that's why it's considered a silent killer! While, symptoms may vary from abrupt catastrophic hemodynamic collapse to gradually progressive dyspnea, pain that comes and goes would be atypical.
