See DDS, gingivitis: If you have a bleeding gums, it may be a sign that you are at risk for or already have gum infection. Gingivitis is a serious problem, which should be checked by a dentist. Do not delay and call your DDS for exam and treatment.

No worries: Seeing these red specks after brushing may be nothing more that small blood clots or stained food particles laying on tooth surface that were liberated from the forces of brushing. However they may be a filler in the toothpaste that looks like small beads. Some manufacturers put in small plastic beads in there toothpaste to aid in the cleaning. There is some recent controversy with this.

Bleeding: Could be infected gums that are bleeding. Could be stain on teeth or cavities. Best to have your Dentist take a look before your small problem becomes a bigger one.
