It depends...: If you're having eye symptoms, especially pain, and if your shingles involves that area (forehead, cheek, etc), you should insist on seeing the opththalmolotist immediately. If his/her office knows the situation, they'll find a way to work you in. If no pain etc, probably no hurry. In the meantime, it is crucial that you be on treatment with an anti-herpes drug like valacyclovir.

Shingles: Norify your pcp about the delay, they can call eye MD and explain situation if a more urgent visit is needed. If you it is shingles, a more urgent visit is warranted.
