Neck pain: Cervical radiculopathy refers to an inflammation of a nerve root in the neck. The radiculopathy is usually from a herniated disc or a bone spur compressing the nerve and sometimes the spinal cord. It is prudent to see a neurosurgeon and obtain an MRI of the cervical spine prior to receiving a cortisone shot in the neck from a pain management physician.
