Many questions: Many questions should be asked, because your overall question does not make sense. Methimazole is for hyperthyroidism, where the TSH is low. The T4 level should fall. Is that what you mean? Oncologist? Does someone have cancer? Hyperthyroidism can be treated without surgery (eg. Radioactive iodine). If surgery is the choice, make sure it is an experienced thyroid surgeon (how many cases/year?)
