PreOP: The two are likely unrelated. Elevated WBC is caused by many things including infection which should be ruled out prior to surgery. Elevated TSH most likely suggests under active thyroid gland. Depending on the context and type of surgery the low thyroid condition should be corrected before surgery. Good luck

No.: There is no direct relationship between the White Blood Cell count and poor thyroid function. However, acute infections and inflammatory conditions can raise the WBC count and affect the accuracy of the TSH value. It's at least as important to find out why your WBC count was high as it is to "normalize" your TSH prior to surgery. Please discuss this with your doctor during your pre-op exam.

No: TSH does not affect your WBC count. However, unless you're on steroids or have a viral infection, your WBC should not be that high. Otherwise, it may indicate a possible infection depending on your history and other symptoms.
