Store supplies: If you want to prepare for a radiation leak or radioactive explosion... at minimum, you need a plan to stay sheltered for at least 48 hours or preferably up to two weeks until detection devices monitoring levels of radiation say it's safe to go out.

Leave the area: The recent events in Japan with Fukushima reactor forced the evacuation of the area. Radiation that is airborne or particulate is hard to hide from. It is best to evacuate any area that has high levels of radioactive particulates in the air.
