Use bottled water: if there is a dirty bomb or a leak of radiation you cannot assume there is no other hazard and should use bottle water until clearance from public health. Very unlikely to be dealing with radiation alone. Always keep in home enough bottled water stored to allow each person and animal in your house a gallon of safe water a day for 2 weeks. Can live without food for days water only about 3 days

Alternative?: What is your alternative to tap water? You may keep bottle water for drinking, however, you are more likely to get struck by lightening than experience nuclear catastrophe.
