Find a safe place: It’s not uncommon for aftershocks to occur after a large earthquake, some of them quite large in their own right. Be prepared to duck, cover, and hold on if one hits.

Stay safe: Drop to hands and knees. Crawl under sturdy desk or table and hold one hand and arm over head for protection. If no sturdy furniture - remain in a crawl position next to an interior wall. Do not position yourself near glass that may break. Remember aftershocks can be quite severe.
