Additional dangers: If you're in a hilly area, beware of landslides. If you're near the ocean, be aware that tsunamis can happen with large earthquakes lasting more than 20 seconds (so get to high ground quickly).

Emergency Help.: People who have been evacuated may not be able to return home if there is too much structural damages to home or to bridges/ roads that they would not traverses. Agencies like FEMA. Red Cross & National Guard usually are not up and running for at least 72 hours. That is why it is so important to be prepared. Have food & your 72 hour emergency preparedness kit ready to go.
