Should i stand in a doorway to be safer during an earthquake?

Not anymore: That is considered an earthquake myth now. You are safer under a strong table. In modern houses, doorways are not stronger than any other parts of the house. Most earthquake-related injuries and deaths are caused by falling or flying objects or by being knocked to the ground.

No: Drop to hands and knees. Crawl under sturdy desk or table and hold one hand and arm over head for protection. If no sturdy furniture - remain in a crawl position next to an interior wall. Do not position yourself near glass that may break. Doorways may have been a good idea if homes that were poorly constructed. It is not recommended.
