Cysts: It is not uncommon to see lesions in various structures on an MRI of the lumbar spine, most commonly the kidneys and ovaries; they usually represent simple cysts. Because the MRI lumbar is not the test of choice to evauate the ovaries, it is usually recommended that a more appropriate followup test be done such as an ultrasound of the ovaries and followup with a gynecologist.
