A member asked:

How common is lpr without coughing at all? studies often split into gerd with/without cough or they use acid to study cough reflex. no cough = no lpr?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

LPR.: Using the term LPR usually suggests the refluxate is rising high enough to trigger the cough reflex, a level to which GERD does not reach. Remember, this is one of the common causes of a chronic cough, besides allergies and asthma. And LPR can mimic asthma, too. Lots of overlap.
