Meds and lifestyle: Chronic cough from reflux happens because a little stomch acid gets into your lungs at night. This sets up a cycle of inflammation. Try putting the head of your bed up on blocks so you're not totally flat. Avoid drinking liquids for an hour before bed. Avoid chocolate, alcohol, peppermint, spicy foods and tobacco. They relax the lower sphincter of your esophagus. You may need a ppi (med); ask doc.

Get tested. : Reflux related cough is usually caused by a special category of reflux called LPR or laryngopharyngeal reflux. It can be difficult to diagnose. The best way us to undergo 24 hr ph testing with a special LPR impedance ph probe. If you do have lpr, surgery is your best option.
