Doubt it: People in their 50's who have unexplained weight loss may have cancer. Her doctor can do a regular check-up, and also an evaluation to look for cancer. Endocrinologic conditions (hormonal imbalances) or gastroenterologic disorders (stomach or intestinal problems) can also lead to weight loss. A thorough medical exam and evaluation is needed.
