Back pain: Definitely need to see a specialist. Either an orthopedic specialist in backs or a neurosurgeon. Sounds like the disc and it's fragments are pushing on the nerve root. Time to act before the damage becomes chronic.

Disk herniation, emg: This really means nothing unless you have symptoms and it limits your function. Just having things on the MRI does not mean you have to act on them. Now without seeing the MRI I cannot advise on the next step if any.
